Memorial Hospital Opens Medication Resource Center

Jasper, IN –According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 20 to 30 percent of new prescriptions are never filled at pharmacies. For many, cost is the primary factor for not filling needed prescriptions. It is estimated that not taking medicines as prescribed by medical providers causes 30 to 50 percent of chronic disease treatment failures and 125,000 deaths per year in the United States. Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center recognized the need for a medication affordability center, and with funding provided by the Little Company of Mary Sisters – USA and Memorial Hospital Foundation, this center is now a reality. The Mary Potter Medication Resource Center is now open to help patients in need find resources to get long-term medications at no or reduced cost.

The Mary Potter Medication Resource Center is located inside the Medical Arts Building at 721 W. 13th Street in Jasper. The center is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The center has no medications on site, but instead aids individuals with finding and applying for existing funding options available through public and private services. All individuals applying for assistance must provide proof of income.

Anyone needing financial help for medicines should contact their medical provider for a referral to the center.
