Top Six Nominees Announced for Little Company of Mary Outstanding Physician Award

Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center has announced the names of the top six physicians nominated for the seventh annual Little Company of Mary Outstanding Physician Award. They are Mary Burgeson, M.D., Adam Dawkins, M.D., Isaac Gatwood, M.D., Frank Hopkins, M.D., Kristi Nord, M.D., and David Rizk, M.D. This award is named in honor of the Little Company of Mary Sisters - USA, the sponsors of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.

This award is based on outstanding job performance reflecting Memorial Hospital’s Mission Statement and the Core Values of Respect for Human Dignity, Compassionate Caring, Stewardship, Quality, and Justice. To be accepted as a nominee, a physician must be classified as a member of the hospital’s medical staff for a minimum of twelve months and be in good standing with the medical staff. The LCM Outstanding Physician Award will be presented by the Medical Staff President during the hospital’s Medical Staff Appreciation Banquet in April.

Dr. Burgeson received her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and completed a residency in family practice at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. She joined the active medical staff at Memorial Hospital in 2007. Dr. Burgeson is a family medicine provider at The Huntingburg Clinic located at 407 E. 22nd Street in Huntingburg.

Dr. Adam Dawkins received his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine and completed a residency in internal medicine at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis where he also completed a fellowship in cardiology. He joined the active medical staff at Memorial Hospital in 2007 and is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Dawkins is a cardiologist at Heartland Cardiology, 440 Scott Rolen Drive in Jasper; Memorial Health Washington, 600 S. State Rd. 57 in Washington; and Santa Claus Family Medicine, 92 West Christmas Blvd. in Santa Claus.

Dr. Isaac Gatwood received his bachelor's degree from University of Notre Dame and his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He completed a residency in family medicine at Deaconess Health System in Evansville. Dr. Gatwood has been a member of the Active Medical Staff since 2015 and is board certified in family medicine. He is a family medicine provider at Memorial Health Bristow located at 26020 State Road 145 in Bristol.

Dr. Frank Hopkins is board certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine and attended Ross University in Dominica, West Indies. He completed both his internship and residency at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, where he also served as chief resident in medicine. Dr. Hopkins joined the active medical staff at Memorial Hospital in 1988. His office is located at Memorial Internal Medicine, 751 W. 9th Street in Jasper.

Dr. Kristi Nord received her bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Yale University. She graduated with honors from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine where she received the Humanism in Medicine award. Dr. Nord completed her neurology residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and is board certified. She joined the medical staff at Memorial Hospital in 2012. Dr. Nord is a neurology provider at Memorial Neurology located at 440 Scott Rolen Drive in Jasper.

Dr. David Rizk received his medical degree from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, and completed a residency in family medicine at Trover Clinic and Foundation in Madisonville, Kentucky. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and joined the medical staff at Memorial Hospital in 2015. Dr. Rizk serves as a hospitalist at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, 800 W. 9th Street in Jasper.
