Cardiopulmonary Services is comprised of five clinical units including:
- Cardiac Lab
- Cardiac Cath Lab
- Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation
- Respiratory Care and Respiratory Home Care
- Pulmonary Lab
- Sleep Center
These units are staffed by qualified professionals who provide state-of-the-art care and excellent service for patients of all ages.
The Cardiac Lab's registered nurses and registered cardiology technologists perform electrocardiography (EKGs and Event Monitoring), SAEKG, carotid duplex scanning, EEG studies, segmental pressures with/without stress, holtor monitoring, venous, renal and MESENTERIC arteries, and arterial duplex studies, venous mapping, stress echocardiography (treadmill, recumbent, and pharmacologic), stress testing, transesophageal echocardiography, echocardiography with Doppler and color flow, and nuclear stress testing. The Lab is dual accredited by ICAEL and ICAVL.
The Cath Lab's services include diagnostic and interventional procedures involving cardiac and peripheral systems. The specially trained staff performs heart catheterizations, cardioversions, percutaneous coronary interventions including angioplasty, stenting, atherectomy procedures, diagnostic peripheral vascular procedures, and percutaneous intervention for peripheral vascular system including angioplasty, stents and cryotherapy, implantation of pacemakers, event/LINQ monitors, and ICDs, placement of intra-aortic balloon pumps, etc. Monitored exercise programs are provided by the registered nurses and exercise physiologists in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation. Workload progression and a strong emphasis on education for risk factor modification/self care and disease management are key concerns of this staff. Cardiac Rehab is accredited by AACVPR.
The hospital's certified/registered respiratory therapists provide a large range of procedures including nebulizer aerosols, pentamidine treatments, oxygen management, inhaled medication management, resuscitation care, tracheostomy care, pulmonary toilet management, bi-pap/c-pap/ventilator management, croup tents, pulse oximetry, overnight pulseoximetry evaluations, home oxygen evaluations capnography trending, peak flows, and chest physiotherapy.
The Respiratory Home Care/Home Medical (DME) serves clients who need oxygen, CPAP/BIPAP/VPAP, or respiratory therapy treatments in the home setting, in addition to providing durable medical goods such as nebulizers, walkers, commodes, etc. The department offers a full line of interface/soft good needs for use with the CPAP/BIPAP/VPAP units. The respiratory therapists are well educated on interface alterations and assisting clients with compliance in use of these devices.
Arterial blood gases, spirometry screening and pulmonary function tests are a few of the services of the Pulmonary Lab's respiratory therapists.
