This American Heart Association course provides information on how to manage illness and injuries until professional help arrives on the scene. The class consists of four core modules: General Principles of First Aid, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emergencies, and Environmental Emergencies. Skills taught include adult and infant CPR, AED use, and relief of choking in adults, children and infants. In order to receive a course completion card, participants must pass a written first aid test and a skills evaluation in CPR and AED.

Location: Hospital Board Conference Room B/C, in the lower level of the hospital.

Using current research on baby behavior, our class instructors will help you better understand your baby. Some of the topics include infant sleep, feeding cues, and crying. This class is highly recommended before the birth of the baby, however, it is also helpful within the first 1-2 months of the baby being born. This class is FREE for moms who delivery at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. $15.00 for any mom not delivering at Memorial Hospital. Only the mom needs to register. Spouses and/or support persons are encouraged to attend as well.

This breast-feeding support group is hosted for moms and their newborns. Subject areas include weight checks, mom-to-mom support, and mom and baby transitions at home such as pumping and returning to work and adding solids.

This option teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in an in-facility environment, with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics. This American Heart Association is designed for healthcare providers who work in a hospital, clinic or other healthcare facility including a skilled nursing and assisted-living facilities. The course provides the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam. Pre-registration required; class size is limited. *Disclaimer, due to AHA updates, the Refresher class is no longer offered. People with vestibular (inner ear/balance) disorders often experience problems with vertigo, dizziness, visual disturbance, and/or imbalance. Additional problems can also include nausea, vomiting, reduced ability to focus or concentrate, and fatigue. Vestibular Rehabilitation is a specialized form of therapy that helps to lessen these symptoms. Physical Therapists Rachelle Frank and Sara Harris will present “Vestibular Rehab: Treatment for Dizziness, Vertigo, and Balance Problems” on Tuesday, February 20 from 6:00 – 7:15 p.m. in Jasper. A free dinner will be included, and pre-registration is required. Rachelle Frank, DPT, CLT has a doctorate in physical therapy from University of Evansville. Sara Harris, PT has a master’s degree in physical therapy from University of Evansville. Both have additional training in vestibular rehabilitation, including specialized training in the use of Frenzel video goggles.
