Memorial Hospital’s Orthopaedic Program Receives Gold Seal of Approval®
Memorial Hospital’s Orthopaedic Center of Excellence announced it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Hip Fracture, the first in the state of Indiana. This is the third Gold Seal of Approval for the orthopaedic program, which also includes Joint Replacement – Hip and Joint Replacement – Knee. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.
The orthopaedic program at Memorial Hospital underwent a rigorous on-site review in September. Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with national disease-specific care standards as well as with hip fracture-specific requirements. Clinical practice guidelines and performance measures also were assessed.

Memorial Hospital Orthopaedic Center of Excellence is a program that brings together a team of local health care professionals to help patients through their orthopaedic journey. The team includes a surgeon, medical doctor, surgical and post-surgical nurses, nursing assistants, rehab therapists, discharge planner, anesthesia providers, case manager, and an orthopaedic nurse navigator. The orthopaedic nurse navigator is the main contact person for patients as they progress through each stage of the journey and ensures that all the patient’s needs are met.
