Memorial Hospital’s Rehabilitation Services staff offers some of the region’s most comprehensive rehabilitation services. The dynamic team of rehab professionals includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists and audiologists who provide services across the continuum of care from inpatient treatment and skilled care, to home care and outpatient treatment. Some therapy services are even provided at the job-site! The therapy staff pursues continuing education and training to ensure they stay up-to-date on the latest and most effective forms of treatment available. Following is a list of common patient diagnoses for each discipline:
- Audiology: Hearing loss, vertigo, tinnitus, chronic ear infections, tympanic membrane perforations and speech delays; industrial hearing conservation program; fitting of digital hearing aids and assistive listening devices.
- Occupational Therapy: Orthopedic injuries, disorders of the upper extremities such as rotator cuff injuries and carpal tunnel injuries, CVA (stroke) and head trauma, work-related injuries, lymphedema, low vision and developmental delays.
- Physical Therapy: Back injuries, total joint replacement, soft tissue injuries, spinal cord injuries, developmental delays, CVA and other neurological disorders, dizziness and balance disorders, TMJ syndrome, work-related and sports-related injuries, functional capacity evaluations, and women’s health issues including urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, pregnancy and postpartum issues, etc.
- Speech and Language Therapy: stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Huntington’s chorea, head trauma, laryngectomy and other head/neck cancer surgery, swallowing disorders, vocal cord paralysis and/or lesions, receptive/expressive aphasia, apraxia and dysarthria, speech developmental delays, stuttering/fluency problems, treatment for the Blom-Singer indwelling prosthesis, and Barium Swallow studies.
